tear trough

What is tear trough filler?

A tear trough is the area between your lower eyelid and cheek. By adding fillers to the area we can fill the hollow to reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Tear troughs can develop from early age or they can develop as we age and they often get worse over time. They can become longer, deeper or darker and sometimes a combination of these. There are associated life factors that can contribute to making the tear trough appear such as lack of sleep, stress and poor diet although are a natural part of the ageing process and can be hereditary also.

A fine grade filler is injected into the tear trough using a cannula. The treatment is pain free and the results are instant. The primary function is to make the area appear rejuvenated, hydrated and rested. Once filled the hollows appear flat and the light reflects of the skin which can aid in correcting the dark shadow that is sometime present.

A secondary effect can be brightness to the area however this is not guaranteed. If brightness is your issue please see Lumieyes.  Tear trough filler CAN be used in conjunction with Lumieyes.

We use Teosyal Regensity II for this treatment only.

Dermal filler s hyaluronic acid (HA) which is naturally in our bodies already with large amounts found in our skin and connective tissues. HA keeps skin hydrated and plump ad can be injected to restore or add more volume and hydration.

Tear Trough filler can be used in conjunction with Lumieyes which is a tissue stimulator, hydrator and colour correcting treatment also for the undereyes. If you have a deep crevice under your eyes Tear Trough will filler this but Lumieyes is for dehydrated skin, fine lines and darkness correction, Sometimes you will need to opt for both treatments to see maximum effect.

What are the side effects?

How long do fillers last?

It will usually last between 6-12 months although each person is different with some people reporting it lasting 12 months plus.

Life style factors can play a part in the longevity of your filler such as subbed use, smoking, excercise, metabolism. Every body is different and therefore your retention will depend on you.

Bruising and swelling are a completely normal part of any injectable treatment. You can experience just one or both of these side effects that can range from mild to quite noticeable!

To help to minimise these side effects we would advise you to an  antihistamine, drink lots of water and apply a cold compress to the area.

Side effects can last from 3 days to 1 week. However, if you become concerned about any of  your side effects Jasmine is contactable 24/7 to advise you.
