POLYNUCLEOTIDES
The Science of Regenerative Skin Health

What Is It?

Polynucleotides represent a revolutionary leap in aesthetic medicine, moving beyond traditional fillers to harness the body's natural regenerative capabilities. These injectable compounds are derived from purified, highly filtered fragments of DNA, offering a sophisticated bio-stimulation that targets cellular repair, hydration, and long-term skin quality improvement.

This treatment is not about adding bulk or structural volume; it is a profound long-term skin investment focused on healing and rejuvenating the skin from the inside out, leading to healthier, more resilient tissue.

Understanding the Mechanism: How Polynucleotides Work

Polynucleotides function as powerful biostimulators. Once injected, they initiate a complex biological cascade:  â€‹

Cellular Repair: They signal fibroblasts (the body's collagen-producing cells) to enter an active state, significantly increasing the production of new, high-quality collagen and elastin.

Antioxidant Action: They provide potent free-radical scavenging capabilities, reducing oxidative stress and damage caused by environmental factors like UV radiation and pollution.

Deep Hydration: They bind to water molecules, providing intense, sustained hydration to the dermal layers, which is crucial for skin suppleness and glow.

In essence, polynucleotides work to engineer a healthier skin environment, restoring elasticity, thickness, and vitality that diminishes with age.

1: Placement and Technique

Polynucleotides are administered via micro-injections (small, precise injections) into the superficial to mid-dermis. The technique often involves multiple tiny injections or a cannula technique, ensuring wide, even distribution across the treatment area.

Face: The focus is on fine lines, overall texture, pore size, and luminosity. The treatment provides global dermal regeneration to restore firmness and glow.

Under-Eyes: The focus is on thin, crepey skin, dark circles caused by thin tissue, and fine lines (crow's feet). The treatment works by thickening the fragile skin, improving elasticity, and reducing shadowing for a refreshed look.

Neck: The focus is on horizontal 'Tech Neck' lines, skin laxity, and crepey texture. The treatment bio-stimulates collagen to tighten and smooth the delicate neck skin.

Décolletage: The focus is on sun damage, creasing, and pigmentation irregularities. The treatment repairs UV-induced damage, improving pigmentation and reducing deep chest lines.

2: Treatment Course and Results

Polynucleotides require a course of treatment to achieve optimal and sustained regeneration:

Sessions Required: Typically 2 to 4 sessions, spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, depending on the skin's initial condition and the specific product used.

Visible Results: Results are gradual and improve over time. Clients often notice initial improvements in hydration and texture within the first few weeks, with the full regenerative effects of increased collagen and elastin becoming apparent after the completion of the second or third session.

ESSENTIAL TREATMENT INFORMATION

PRE-TREATMENT ADVICE (7 DAYS PRIOR)

  • Avoid Blood Thinners: Stop taking non-essential blood-thinning agents (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, fish oils, etc.) only after consulting your physician, to minimise bruising.

  • Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 48 hours prior.

  • Treat Active Conditions: Ensure there are no active cold sores, infections, or inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area.

AFTERCARE (24-48 HOURS POST-TREATMENT)

  • Expect Bumps: Small, raised wheals or 'blebs' are normal at the injection sites, especially under the eye, and usually subside within 24-48 hours as the product integrates.  â€‹

  • Avoid Touching/Pressure: Do not vigorously touch or massage the treated area for at least 6 hours.

  • Avoid Extreme Heat: Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and steam rooms for 24-48 hours.

  • Sun Protection: Rigorously apply broad-spectrum sunscreen as regenerative treatments make the skin more susceptible to UV damage.

Possible Side Effects

Common (Lasting 1-3 days):

Pinpoint bruising, redness, mild swelling, and visible injection 'blebs' (small bumps) at the site.

Rare:

Persistent swelling or delayed adverse reactions. These treatments are generally very well-tolerated as the compound is highly purified and biocompatible.

Longevity of Results

Polynucleotides offer superior longevity because they trigger genuine biological change, rather than just providing temporary volume. Following the initial course of treatment, results typically last for 6 to 12 months or more. A single maintenance session is recommended every 6 to 9 months to sustain the cellular regeneration and preserve skin quality.

POLYNUCLEOTIDES VS. SKIN BOOSTERS

Choosing Your Regenerative Path

While both treatments are focused on improving skin quality and structure, they work through distinct mechanisms:

Primary Ingredient:

Skin Boosters use non-cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid (HA). Polynucleotides use purified DNA fragments (highly filtered).

Main Mechanism:

Skin Boosters focus on Hydration & Volume, creating a direct water reservoir and providing mild collagen stimulation. Polynucleotides focus on Cellular Repair & Growth, triggering deep cellular signalling to aggressively produce new collagen and repair tissue damage.

Best For:

Skin Boosters are best for fine lines, dehydration, luminosity, and textural improvement. Polynucleotides are best for thin, fragile skin, severe crepiness, significant loss of elasticity, and scarring.

In short, Skin Boosters are excellent for hydration and glow, while Polynucleotides are superior for deep cellular repair and structural thickening.
